Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information I collect when you work with me or visit this site, why I collect it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, email me at info@catmartel.com and I'll walk you through it directly.
What I Collect
When you inquire or book a session with me, I collect the basic information: your name, email, phone number, and any details you share about your business or your vision for the shoot. If you book, that expands to include billing information and, for team sessions, the names and contact details of the people I'll be photographing.
During a session, I collect the obvious thing: photographs of you, your team, your space, or your products. If you visit this website, my hosting and analytics tools collect standard technical information, things like your browser type, general location, and how you moved through the site. This is not information I go looking for. It's what most websites collect by default.
How I Use It
Your contact and project information is used to plan your session, send contracts and invoices, deliver your gallery, and follow up afterward. If you're on my list, I may also use your email to send updates about my work, occasional availability, or things I think you'd actually want to read. You can unsubscribe from that at any time.
Photographs are used to deliver your final gallery and, separately, may be used in my portfolio or on social media to show the kind of work I do. That second use is never assumed. It's covered by the image rights section of your contract, and if you've asked me not to share your photos publicly, I won't.
Who Else Sees It
I work with a small number of tools to run this business, and your information passes through some of them. Contracts, invoices, and client communication go through Dubsado. Finished galleries are delivered through Pixieset. Payments are processed through the payment providers linked in those platforms. None of these companies use your information for anything beyond helping me deliver your service, and none of them are in the business of selling it.
I don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, for any reason.
Cookies and Website Data
This site uses basic cookies and analytics to understand how people find and use it. You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Doing so shouldn't affect your ability to browse the site, though some features may work less smoothly.
How Long I Keep Things
I keep client records, contracts, and invoices for as long as needed for tax and business purposes, generally in line with what Quebec law requires. Galleries remain accessible for the period stated in your contract. After that, I may archive or delete files at my discretion.
Where Your Information Goes
Some of the tools I use to run this business, Dubsado and Pixieset among them, are based outside Quebec, which means your information may be stored or processed outside the province. I only work with providers who have their own privacy and security practices in place, and your information is never sent anywhere beyond what's needed to deliver your project.
Your Rights
You have the right to ask what personal information I hold about you, to correct it if it's wrong, and to request that I delete it, subject to what I'm legally required to keep for tax and business records. You can also withdraw consent for marketing emails or for public use of your photos at any time. To make any of these requests, or to file a complaint about how your information is handled, email info@catmartel.com.
Privacy Officer
I am the person responsible for protecting your personal information at Cat Martel Photography. If you have questions or concerns about your privacy, reach out directly at info@catmartel.com.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this policy as my business or my tools change. The version posted here is always the current one.
